Corona del Mar High defender Lauren Smits was one of three sophomores named to the All-CIF Southern Section Division II girls’ soccer team, while her teammate, goalkeeper Lindsey Luke, was the only freshman named to the All-Division II second team.

The honors came on the heels of All-Pacific Coast League selections for the Sea Kings, who ended a postseason run in the second round of the CIF Division II playoffs after losing to Moorpark, 2-1.

Luke was named the league’s Most Valuable Goalkeeper.

As a sophomore, Smits marked three players from U.S. youth national teams. She didn’t allow any of them to score and had two goals on the season. Luke had nine shutouts and allowed four goals in league play. She also stopped two consecutive penalty kicks against University.

Freshman sweeper Kaylee O’Connor, who had two assists, earned first-team all-league honors. She was part of the reason why the Sea Kings scored 32 goals, while allowing 19.

Senior co-captain Lexi Henson, who received honorable mention from league coaches last year, made the first team. She had five goals and two assists.

Freshman Tessa Andujar, junior A.J. Rome, and sophomore Hayley Raguse were both named to the second team.

Andujar had three goals and three assists, including two against Beckman.

Rome added two goals while playing defensive midfielder.

Raguse, who played left midfield and forward, had seven goals and three assists.
