Robert Pettit

Robert Pettit, beloved husband and best

friend to his wife Dayna of 40 years, died

peacefully at home Thursday, March 13

surrounded by his wife Dayna, his son

Robby, daughter in-law Melinda and

sister Rosemary. He was born July 24,

1930 in Oklahoma and moved to

California when he was 6 months old.

Bob worked with the Automobile Club

of Southern California for nearly 40

years as their #1 salesperson. He loved

everyday he went to work and the challenges that he encountered.

Bob and Dayna resided on the Balboa Peninsula Point for 35

years, and enjoyed their regular trips together to Hawaii, New

York, London and Paris, but they loved their “nest” on the L

Street park most of all.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Dayna, sister Rosemary Gary

of New York, children Robert and Melinda Pettit in Huntington

Beach, David and Debbie Star in Las Vegas, his dear grandsons

Bobby and Jeremy Pettit and his wife Becca, Blake Bennett and

his wife Vicki, and many friends and neighbors that knew him as

the man with the dazzling smile always on his handsome face

walking his two little white dogs and telling everybody “another

day in paradise.” His love for his family, life and his dogs was

legendary and will always be remembered.

A remembrance memorial for Bob will be at the L Street Park

Saturday, March 29 at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the

Newport Nautical Museum and the Balboa Theater Foundation.
