Figueroa, Danner featured on Div. IV-AA first team

Costa Mesa High senior Michelle Figueroa, as well as Sage Hill junior Tierney Danner, were recently named to the Southern California Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Assn. Division IV-AA first team for girls’ basketball.

Figueroa, the Orange Coast League MVP, averaged a team-high 19.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and a team-high 4.9 assists a game. She helped lead the Mustangs (19-9, 8-1 in league) to their second straight league crown and the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division IV-AA playoffs. It’s her second straight year as a first-team All-Division honoree.

Danner, who also earned first-team All-Academy League honors, averaged team highs of 17.2 points and 9.1 rebounds per game for the Lightning.

She helped Sage Hill (17-10, 7-3 in league) to tie for second place in league and advance to the Division IV-AA quarterfinals.
