Hit-and-run driver who injured man is sought

Police are seeking a hit-and-run driver who allegedly struck a 20-year-old Irvine man, breaking his leg, at 12:32 a.m. Saturday at Table Rock Drive and South Coast Highway.

The truck, described as black, was going northbound on South Coast Highway and may have front-end damage, according to police records.

Business windows shot with pellet gun

Six businesses on South Coast Highway were boarded up late Tuesday after their windows were broken by apparent pellet gunshots, according to police records.

The first incident was reported at 9:44 p.m. at a business in the 1700 block; followed at 9:46 p.m. by a report of a broken window at a gallery in the 1500 block and at 10:07 p.m. by another incident in the 1800 block.

A broken window was reported at 10:57 p.m. at a tattoo parlor in the 600 block, and at 11:15 p.m. at a car dealership in the 900 block. A broken window was also boarded up at 11:23 p.m. at a sandwich shop in the 1300 block.

The damages total at least $2,000, according to police.

Laguna man arrested in theft of two guns

Bill Wills, a 19-year-old Laguna Beach resident, was arrested at 3:48 p.m. March 13 on suspicion of stealing two guns from his girlfriend’s mother, and conspiracy. Wills is suspected of participating in a residential burglary, according to Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Jason Kravetz.

Newspaper carrier claims assault

A Los Angeles Times newspaper carrier is accusing a Park Place resident of harassing him each morning as he delivers the papers.

On March 14, at 6:22 a.m., the situation escalated when the resident allegedly threw the paper back at the carrier, striking the carrier through the car window in the head.

The carrier showed police red marks on his face that he said were caused by the newspaper projectile.

The resident denies the allegation, according to Kravetz.

Man caught with stolen copper wire

Jesus Tiburcio Larios-Castillo, a 32-year-old Santa Ana man, was arrested at 11:21 a.m. Saturday after police stopped him on suspicion of stealing about $2,000 worth of construction materials, including copper wire, from a job site in the 900 block of Temple Hills Drive.

Larios-Castillo, who had a $50,000 warrant for driving without a license, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, grand theft and resisting arrest, Kravetz said.

The suspect was captured after the owners of the construction site confronted him and he fled in a vehicle. With a description of the vehicle in hand, the suspect was stopped by officers and taken into custody.

All the stolen items were still in the vehicle. The suspect had no connection to the job site, Kravetz said.

Larios-Castillo is being held at Orange County Jail without bail, according to jail records.

Man cited for serving liquor to a minor

The owner of a business in Laguna Beach was issued a citation for selling liquor to a minor Monday.

A sting operation using a decoy was conducted at 16 businesses within the city. Fifteen of the businesses checked the identification of the decoy, a minor, and did not sell alcohol to the decoy.

A citation was issued to Abdolhamid Risdana, 67, of Laguna Beach, an employee at Picayo, 610 N. Coast Hwy.

The violation is a misdemeanor.
