CORONA DEL MAR — Senior second baseman Kevin Holland went three for four with two doubles and one RBI to help the Sea Kings hold off the Vaqueros in a Pacific Coast League game Wednesday.

Corona del Mar (5-7, 2-2 in league) broke away from a 5-5 tie with a four-run eighth inning. Junior shortstop Michael Bloom and junior first baseman Steven Manning each had a double and drove in two runs apiece for the Sea Kings, while junior center fielder John Doering went two for four with a double.

Corona del Mar will play at Irvine Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.

NEWPORT BEACH — Senior pitcher RJ D’Cruz had another strong outing as he went the distance in the Sailors’ nonleague game Wednesday.

D’Cruz (2-2) struck out six and gave up six hits and two runs, but the Sailors (5-4-1) struggled offensively. They’ve only scored nine runs in their last four games.

Sophomores Kyle Cablay and Jacob McCann had back-to-back RBI singles for Newport Harbor in the bottom of the fifth inning.

FULLERTON — Senior Fabian Matthews swept at No. 1 singles for the Sea Kings in their nonleague match at Sunny Hills Wednesday.

Junior Chris Damion and freshman Shane Korber won two sets each in singles for Corona del Mar (8-2).

The Sea Kings, ranked No. 7 in the CIF Southern Section Division I coaches’ poll, will play host to Irvine today at 3:15 p.m.

IRVINE — Senior McKenna Duley partnered up with junior Darron Arnold in No. 2 doubles and won two out of three sets in the Sailors’ nonleague match Wednesday.

Cameron Chase and John Hutchinson, playing No. 1 doubles, won a doubles set for Newport Harbor (3-4).

IRVINE — Eagles junior Ryan Knapp was medalist with a one-under-par 35 in the nonleague match Wednesday at Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course.

Also scoring for Estancia (8-2) were Andrew Ayala (40), Storm Hagen and Jon Person (both 42) and Ryan Burns (45).

Estancia plays Edison on Monday at SeaCliff Country Club.

NEWPORT BEACH — Junior Camden Nicholson shot one-over-par 36 to earn medalist honors for the Sea Kings in a Pacific Coast League event at Newport Beach Country Club Wednesday.

Josh Starnes shot a 38 and Jeff Jones and Tanner Trauthen each had 40s, and Taylor Keddington a 42.

Corona del Mar (8-5, 2-1 in league) faces league leader Beckman at Tustin Ranch Golf Course Tuesday at 3 p.m.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Estancia def. Costa Mesa

COSTA MESA — Junior middle blocker Bradley Reitler had 12 blocks, 11 kills and two service aces as the Eagles beat their cross-town rivals, 28-26, 25-17, 27-29, 19-25, 15-10, in an Orange Coast League match Wednesday.

Setter Tyler Sullivan finished with 19 assists and three blocks for the Eagles (3-4, 1-1 in league).

Costa Mesa (6-11, 0-1 in league) was led by Jeff Dye’s 20 kills. Ryan Thompson added 14 kills.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

IRVINE — Junior attacker Elizabeth Cramer scored three goals for the Sailors in a nonleague game Wednesday.

Shannon Rohan and Sierra Michelson each scored goals for Newport Harbor (4-4).

Goalie Jennifer Nava made three saves.

The Sailors play host to Mission Viejo Tuesday at 6 p.m.
