Van’s Pier Classic underway at pier
The Van’s Pier Classic presented by Jack’s Surfboards is underway at the southside of the Huntington Beach pier.
The five-day event began Wednesday, continues today, Friday and Saturday, and concludes Sunday.
Several pro surfers will compete in the ASP World Qualifying Series event that is only a 2-star competition (men’s and women’s 2-star, juniors’ 2-grade).
Last year, Huntington Beach’s Micah Byrne took first place in the men’s event.
The Van’s Pier Classic kicks off the West Coast leg of the 2008 ASP North America Tour.
