Keeping a secret isn’t always easy, but a UCI expert thinks she can tell you how to do it better.

Alice Silverberg, a math professor, will lecture on “Cryptography — How to Keep a Secret” as part of the Discover the Physical Sciences Breakfast Lecture Series from 7:30 to 9 a.m. April 1 at the University Club on campus.

Cryptography is the practice of studying and hiding information. It is used to protect credit card numbers over the Internet, as well as in electronic voting. Silverberg will also revisit the history of the subject and its applications in modern math.
