Bruins win title game

The Bruins sprinted to a 2-0 lead on the Storm in the championship final of the Howe Division playoffs Saturday and rode that start to a 4-1 title-clinching victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

Mark Clifford opened and closed the scoring for the Bruins and led players with two goals.

The Bruins also got single scores from Jason Saenz and Nicholas Thompson.

Kian Nafison picked up two assists, Saenz had an assist and Savannah Patton recorded 23 saves.

Matthew Oyakawa scored for the Storm and Kyle Aube had 25 saves.

Campbell Division

Lightning Blades 2, Conspiracy 1

Jake Coon scored the last of his two goals with 1:11 left in the second period to break a tie and provide what turned out to be the winning goal for the Lightning Blades.

His first goal came at the 9:59 mark of the second period and gave his team a 1-0 lead but Trevor Arsenault brought Conspiracy into a tie when he scored off an assist from Carson Dorain with 3:30 to go in the period.

Joseph Loya finished with 21 saves for the Lightning Blades and Drew Truxaw had 18 saves for Conspiracy.

Smythe Division

Dry Ice 8, HB Psychos 7

Dry Ice outscored the HB Psychos 2-1 in a shootout to win the division title.

Drew Truxaw and Connor Cudeback scored in the shootout for Dry Ice and Rickey Meyer scored for the Psychos.

Truxaw finished with three goals and an assist to pace a Dry Ice scoring attack that also saw Austin Heilman score twice, and Alex Buyan and Nick Callanan each score once. Heilman, Buyan and Colin Reyes each had an assist, and Christopher Beatty registered 28 saves.

Meyer had three goals overall and teammate Chris Pabitzky took scoring honors for the Psychos with four goals. Tyler Barba had an assist and Corey Childers had 27 saves.
