Firefighters to serve at Ruby’s cancer fundraiser

Newport Beach firefighters will trade in helmets and hoses for hats and aprons next week when they serve restaurant patrons classic 1940s meals at the Ruby’s Diner restaurant in Corona del Mar to raise money for cancer research.

The fundraiser is part of Newport Beach’s Relay for Life charity campaign, where the fire and police departments raise money to donate to the American Cancer Society.

From 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday firefighters will help serve Ruby’s customers with 20% of the food sales going to the department’s Relay for Life if customers bring in a flier.
