Time is running out for homeowners in Newport-Mesa to pay their county property taxes.

Second installments of property tax payments are due Tuesday.

Payments that are not postmarked April 10 or sooner will be considered delinquent and taxpayers will be slapped with a 10% penalty and other costs.

“Paying taxes is never fun, but our team is doing everything it can to make the experience less painful,” said Orange County Treasurer-Tax Collector Chriss W. Street in a written statement.

Street’s office will host extended office hours over the next week to accommodate last-minute taxpayers at 12 Civic Center Plaza, Suite G58, in Santa Ana. Extended office hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 5, and 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 10. Regular office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Taxpayers also can mail payments to the Orange County Tax Collector, P.O. Box 1438, Santa Ana, 92702-1438. Payments also can be made via telephone or the Internet until midnight April 10 at (714) 834-3411 or www.ttc.ocgov.com.
