‘Eaters Bernhard named Big West Player of Week

UC Irvine senior tennis player Becky Bernhard was named Big West Conference Player of the Week Wednesday following her performance against Boise State and Cal State Northridge.

Bernhard defeated Pichittra Thongdach of Boise State, 6-4, 6-4, and Victoria Brymer of Cal State Nortrhridge, 6-1, 6-0, to extend her winning streak at No. 1 singles to five matches.

This is the first time Bernhard has won the honor this season and the 10th time in her career. Her 10 Player of the Week honors is more than any women’s tennis player in Big West history and more than any athlete at UCI in Big West sports.
