Have breakfast with man’s best friend at Wyndham

The Wyndham Orange County hotel in Costa Mesa launched a new program Saturday that allows dog owners to eat out with their pets.

The “Paws and Claws” breakfast buffet, available from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday, offers omelets, waffles and other breakfast staples on the hotel’s lakeside patio for $15.50. There is also a cocktail bar offering champagne and dog treats for an additional $4.

General Manager Tom Smalley said the turnout the first day had been promising.

“We had about five or six dogs there,” he said. “It was a great morning.”

In addition to breakfast, the hotel offers a photo contest where guests are invited to submit 4-by-6-inch pictures of their dogs.

Each week winner will receive a free breakfast and have his or her picture showcased in the hotel’s gallery.
