NMSC B17 drops close one

Newport Mesa Soccer Club’s B17 team lost a close battle, 4-3, to a Capistrano-based Premier SC team on Sunday. After going down 2-0 in the first half, NMSC fought back to tie the score at 3-3. Austin Webster scored the goal of the day, with a driving volley from atop the penalty area, assisted by Rex Zimmerman and Aran Antunez. Shane Rocco scored with a volley into the upper-V from a well-weighted pass by Kyle Danese. Once again, goalkeeper Zak Maurer-Erickson, made several acrobatic saves behind the stellar defensive work of Michael Delaney, Gavin Arblaster, Jack Gerdau and Rex Zimmerman.
