Marché Moderne, the upscale French restaurant that opened last year at South Coast Plaza, plans to celebrate its first anniversary with a five-course dinner May 1.

The restaurant on level three by Nordstrom will offer two seatings, one from 5:30 to 6 p.m. and the other from 8 to 8:30 p.m., with a $75 menu as well as an additional $35 for wine pairings. Owners Amelia and Florent Marneau have invited some of their favorite food suppliers to set up a farmers market outside. Among those scheduled to appear are Idalia Garcia from L.A. Specialty Produce, Lisa Hogan from the Santa Monica Seafood Co. and Dan Ketelaars from Danko Foods.

The five-course menu includes roasted vegetables, filet of Dover sole, halibut cheeks, braised beef shank, ice cream and more. For reservations, call (714) 434-7900.

Taco Rosa launches happy hour, specials

Taco Rosa at the Newport Hills Center has introduced a pair of new traditions. The restaurant at 2632 San Miguel Road now offers a happy hour from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and a menu of monthly specials.

During happy hour, the restaurant offers Margaritas de la Casa at half price and fish tacos for $1 each. The theme for this month’s specials is “Las Fiestas de Primavera,” which heralds the arrival of spring. Menu items for April include lentil bean soup, sauteed calamari steak with Veracruz sauce and a selection of meats and vegetables served in a charbroiled pineapple on a bed of black bean rice.
