Sam Goldstein to be honored by Barclay

“Sway With Me” is a gala evening to honor those people who have had a special impact on Irvine Barclay Theatre. Recipients chosen to receive the Jade Award are honored for their extraordinary impact on the theater through leadership, philanthropy and creativity.

This year’s honorees are longtime Barclay volunteer Sam Goldstein, of Laguna Beach; Orange County choreographer and educator, Molly Lynch; and dancer and choreographer, Mark Morris.

Goldstein is a longtime member of Irvine Barclay Theatre’s board of directors, and a highly visible ambassador for the Barclay and the conduit for financial support and volunteer involvement.

Proceeds from the event and a brief auction of exclusive one-of-a-kind items support the theater’s artistic programming and outreach activities for young people.

The event will take place Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Irvine Barclay Theatre, 4242 Campus Drive in Irvine.

Tickets are $500 per person, of which $350 is a tax-deductible contribution to Irvine Barclay Theatre. For more information call (949) 854-4607.

Kravetz wins in TV game show

Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Jason Kravetz is trying to decide what charities will benefit from some of his $175,000 winnings on the “Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader” TV game show.

Kravetz appeared in his police uniform on the Thursday show, which airs on the Fox network. The show pits adults against whiz-kids in a quiz contest.
