Peek…Aren’t You Curious just opened its first Orange County store at Fashion Island. It specializes in simple and sophisticated children’s apparel in size newborns through age 10. Peek celebrates its grand opening Thursday with treats, refreshments and easels displayed for painting.

A percentage of the proceeds from that day’s sales go toward Art & Creativity for Healing, an organization specializing in therapeutic art programs for children. Peek clothes are functional, easily mixed and matched, and designed to appeal to children as well as please a parent’s sense of style. The Peek line is available in sub-brands, for girls the lines include Fleur des Champs, Surf Royalty, Craft Dungarees and Sgt. Fletcher. Boys wear Surf Royalty, Craft Dungarees, Sgt. Fletcher and Williams and Sons; and infants wear the Little Peanut line.

Sally Bartz, founder and owner of Halsea, a beach-chic travel accessories company, has enjoyed more than two years of online and wholesale success, and now she’s branched into retail. Her first Halsea store just opened on the Peninsula in Newport Beach.

The store showcases Halsea’s travel products, with essentials from roller bags to all-purpose totes, and an expanded Halsea line for the laid-back luxury lifestyle at home. The collection includes fabric covered mirrors ($450 - $750); lounge pads for dogs or kids ($165 - $225); throw pillows with pom pom or ribbon trim ($65 - $88); fabric by the yard — laminated or regular canvas ($45/per yard); and cloth napkins ($35 set of 4) and table cloths ($55 and up).

4-COURSE TEQUILA DINNER

Award-winning Sam & Harry’s restaurant at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa spices up fine dining with an indulgent four-course dinner paired with tequila-infused cocktails inspired by wine-pairing feasts.

Chef Adrian Sbarna and a special host, Yehuda Ziv of Porfidio Tequila, invite guests to join them from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday to experience the memorable tequila dinner.

The four-course evening starts with Baja shrimp and scallop Porfidio marinated ceviche with jicama slaw garnished with jumbo prawn paired with the Rio Grande, a provocative cocktail of Porfidio Tequila, Grand Marnier, cordials and juices.

And then enjoy a refreshing salad of fresh romaine and baby bibb lettuce expertly paired with Mexican Violet, a cocktail of Porfidio Tequila in parfait Amour and the flavor of passion fruit. The main course is the Sonora-style filet mignon and slightly chilled Porfidio Anejo gold tequila served in a lime and sugar rimmed snifter.
