SAN JOSE — Junior Gianna Rossi scored the game-winning goal for the Anteaters as they defeated San Jose State in four overtimes Saturday.

UC Irvine (13-8, 5-5), ranked No. 8, defeated No. 9 San Jose State on a counter-attack following an assist from senior keeper Lauren Machanis in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play. Senior Jessica Lewis led UCI with two goals in the match. The Anteaters play in Palo Alto against No. 2 Stanford today at 1p.m.

STOCKTON — UC Irvine No. 1 singles Alex Sundling lost his match to Mortiz Starke Saturday but rebounded in doubles play with Zac Tsai.

Sundling and Tsai defeated Artem Gramma and Vegerd Veskimagi, 8-2 as the No. 70-ranked Anteaters (9-12, 2-1) defeated Big West foe Pacific, 5-2.

The Anteaters play at UC Davis today at 1 p.m. in Big West Conference play.

IRVINE — UC Irvine, ranked No. 57, couldn’t hold off the Waves, who won two of three doubles matches and all but one singles match Saturday at Anteater Tennis Stadium.

No. 1 singles Becky Bernhard defeated the No. 18 Waves’ Sylvia Kosakowski, 6-0, 4-6, 10-5.

The Anteaters (13-8) host UC Riverside Wednesday in their final match of the regular season at 1:30 p.m. at Anteater Tennis Stadium.

Thunderbird Invitational

TEMPE — UC Irvine is tied with Pacific for ninth place after the second day of the Arizona State Thunderbird Invitational at Karsten Golf Course.

The Anteaters will compete in the final round today.

Host Arizona State leads with a 36-hole total of 558, followed by the ASU “B” team at 565, and Colorado State at 568. UCI and Pacific are tied for ninth with 585 in the 16-team field.

UCI sophomore John Chin shot two-over-par 73 Saturday and is in 21st place at 144. Junior Sean Shahi (69) is 29th at 145, junior Tim Cha (75) is 50th at 148, senior Kenny Kim (76) is in 66th place at 152 and freshman Bryan Harris (81) is 74th at 153.

COSTA MESA — April Glenn hit the game-winning RBI single to bring in Katie Daniels in the eighth inning of Game 1 against Biola Saturday.

The Lions, No. 10 in the NAIA, split the series with Biola, losing the second game, 2-0. Keena Levert hit an eighth inning line drive double to left to score Jacqui Hudson and Krista Johnson. The Lions (31-17, 6-10 in the Golden State Athletic Conference) host Azusa Pacific Tuesday at 2 p.m.
