Balboa Island Ferry to close for dock repairs

The Balboa Island Ferry will be closed all day Monday through Friday morning while workers repair wooden docks.

Balboa Peninsula residents will have to make a 3- to 5-mile trek up Balboa Boulevard to reach mainland points while the ferry is closed.

Ferry owner Seymour Beek said workers would try and have the ferry up and running by mid-afternoon Friday.

The closure marks the second time since March the ferry has been closed for more than a day for dock repairs.

The ferry normally runs 6:30 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and 6:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday through Saturday.
