Fletcher Jones reports growth in shuttle service
Fletcher Jones Motorcars launched a system in October to relieve traffic to and from John Wayne Airport — and executives reported this month that usage has hit an all-time high.
The Newport Beach auto dealer installed a shuttle hub at the corner of Bristol and Birch streets that features a coffee bar, wireless Internet access and 60 parking spaces.
Commuters who have purchased a vehicle from Fletcher Jones may leave their cars there and take a shuttle to the airport free of charge, and even have their cars serviced while they are away.
The company said in a release that more than 1,000 drivers now use the hub every month.
“We’re delighted to see that our original intention for building the hub — to serve as an added convenience for our clients while helping alleviate the considerable traffic congestion in our community — has exceeded our expectations,” General Manager Garth Blumenthal said in the release.
Calvin Klein store celebrates opening with discounts
The new Calvin Klein store at South Coast Plaza plans to host a grand opening party Thursday evening.
From 7 to 9 p.m., customers may enjoy cocktails and music and even get personal fashion consultations with style experts from GQ and Lucky magazines.
The store will give free iPod shuffles to customers who spend $200 or more and 20% discounts to those who spend $100 or more. Ten percent of the evening’s sales will also benefit Save the Children.
The store, on level three of the Bear Street side of South Coast Plaza, can be reached at (714) 662-1901.
