A phone call to police from a concerned local shopper gave authorities all they needed to arrest a man they had been investigating for drug activity, police said Tuesday.

Damon Block, 33, of Rancho Santa Margarita, was arrested on suspicion of possessing, transporting, and intent of selling narcotics Monday. Police found an ounce of cocaine on Block, a “pretty good little quantity,” Sgt. Bryan Glass said.

Police received a call about drug activity in the Target parking lot at 3030 Harbor Blvd. just before 6 p.m. Monday. When police arrived, they stopped Block and found what appeared to be an ounce of cocaine on him, Glass said. An ounce is more than the average drug user carries, officials said. He was already under investigation for drug activities, police said. Block is in custody on $30,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned today.
