A robotic surgery and testicular cancer expert has joined Hoag Cancer Center, hospital officials announced this week.

Jeffrey Yoshida will be the associate medical director of urologic oncology. The doctor has extensive experience in removing prostates and kidneys with the assistance of robots. As associate medical director, Yoshida will help develop Hoag’s treatment programs for prostate, kidney, bladder and testicular cancers. A primary focus for Yoshida will be to lead the development of a comprehensive, multidisciplinary prostate cancer program. Yoshida will expand the availability of minimally invasive robotic surgery at Hoag, hospital officials said.

“The addition of Dr. Yoshida to Hoag Hospital demonstrates the hospital’s commitment to providing the most advanced health care services to the community,” said Robert Dillman, medical and scientific director of Hoag Cancer Center. “His proven expertise in robotic-assisted prostate surgery ensures that our patients will have local access to this highly sought after treatment option.”
