Girls Under-12 Select
Newport 2, South Irvine 0: Newport won behind the scoring of Kathryn Delatorre and Britney Myers. Kenya Avila and Megan Daly assisted on the goals while the entire Newport team turned in a superb defensive effort, limiting South Irvine to only two shots on goal. Jenna Nulty, Emily Cook, McKenna Johnson and Berkley Van Oostendorp were dominating at their defensive positions. Katelyn Mead, Lea Phillips and Leah Castillo controlled the center of the field from their midfield positions. Kate McFetters kept constant pressure on the Irvine defense and Tyler Stupor was flawless in goal.
Newport 5, North Irvine 1: Newport had five different players tally goals in a dominating victory. Megan Daly scored on a hard shot from just inside the 18-yard line to open the scoring. Kate McFetters, Lea Phillips, Kenya Avila and Leah Castillo all added goals to the effort. Britney Myers had two assists, and Kathryn Delatorre, Katelyn Mead and Megan Daly also added assists. Newport’s defense was nearly perfect with strong performances by Jenna Nulty, Berkley Van Oostendorp, Emily Cook and McKenna Johnson. Tyler Stupor was excellent in goal, stopping several strong scoring chances by North Irvine and keeping them off the scoreboard until very late in the contest.
Boys Under 10
Green Machine: Green Machine kids experienced their first defeat of the season. The defensive combination of Kevin Palmer Jacob Whelan and Tom Phillips had kept the visitors at bay during the first quarter until a poor clearance allowed the visitors to slot home the first goal of the game. Despite valiant efforts of Sohrob Goodarzy, Ezra Salgado and Harrison White, the visitors’ lead was increased to three goals by the end of the first half. Green Machine cut the lead to 3-1 with a well-placed shot by the team’s leading scorer Cooper Peters, but despite numerous chances the final score was 5-1 in the visitors’ favor.
Boys Under 6
Blue Thunder vs. Gators: Both teams played a great game under the blazing afternoon sun. Goals were made by Marlon, Brendan and Michael. The whole team put in a great effort.

Ticon Construction 12, Home Run Monkey 6: Justin Shollin had two hits and drove in two runs for Ticon Construction and added two great defensive plays in the fourth inning to save runners from scoring. Luc Stuka had a triple and two RBIs, and Joe Fuller had two hits and two RBIs. Julian Rodgers and Scotty Ryder each added hits. Scott Siecinski have four walks and scored two runs. Jake Rooney, Ronan Ferrentino, and Eric Purcell scored runs.
Luc Stuka and Ryder each pitched two innings and Shollin finished the game with a scoreless inning.
