UCI to offer new business scholarships

The Paul Merage School of Business at UCI plans to give $25,000 in scholarships over the next five years to students who graduated from low-performing public high schools.

The scholarship funds came through a gift from the Waltos Group, a Newport Beach-based group of financial representatives and specialists, and the Northwestern Mutual Foundation. Each year, two UCI business students will receive $2,500 scholarships and work with a mentor from the Waltos Group.

A committee of local business and community leaders, Merage School faculty and representatives of the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network will select the scholarship winners.
