Sinclair a scoring storm for Australian pro team
Newport Harbor High product Ross Sinclair has made the most of his opportunity in his first season of professional men’s water polo.
The former Sailors standout finished as the high scorer for the Hunter Hurricanes of Australia’s National Water Polo League recently.
He scored 50 goals in 15 matches for the Hurricanes.
At Newport Harbor, Sinclair was part of the Sailors’ CIF Southern Section Division I championship team as a freshman. He was named the Sea View League MVP as a senior.
He later starred at UC Santa Barbara, where he earned third-team All-American honors in his final two seasons.
In his senior year, 2007, he led the Gauchos in goals (55), steals (29) and field blocks (17). He was also tied for the team lead in assists with 36.
In his junior year, he led UCSB in goals (64), steals (52), assists (48) and field blocks (14).
His 156 career goals rank tied for fifth all-time at UCSB.
