NEWPORT COAST — Jack Heffron had a double as the Lightning rested their starters Friday in the last regular-season game.

Sage Hill (14-6, 12-3 in league) had already clinched its first league title.

The Lightning, who are making their first playoff appearance since 2004, will learn of their opening-round playoff opponent when the CIF Southern Section playoff pairings are released Monday.

BURBANK — Sage Hill School will face Bell-Jeff after its 25-22, 25-21, 16-25, 26-24 win in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division V playoffs Friday.

The Lightning (17-4), which had a first-round bye, will play host to the Guards (17-6) Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Sage Hill won the Academy League title. Bell-Jeff is the No. 2 representative of the Santa Fe League.

“We will try to learn as much as we can about Sage Hill before Tuesday,” Bell-Jeff Coach Miguel Segura told the Burbank Leader.
