CdM, Sage, Estancia tennis compete in second round

Three Newport-Mesa area high school boys’ tennis teams will try to take advantage of playing home matches today in the second round of the CIF Southern Section playoffs.

Corona del Mar (15-4) will play host to Thousand Oaks at 3 p.m. in CIF Division II. The Sea Kings won the coin toss after its 11-7 victory over Servite at CdM Thursday. Thousand Oaks beat Loyola on Thursday.

In CIF Division IV, Estancia (12-5) will face Santa Ynez at 1 p.m. at Mesa Verde Country Club. Estancia defeated Mark Keppel, 13-5, in Alhambra Thursday.

Santa Ynez defeated Mayfair on its home court.

Sage Hill takes on Gahr in a match scheduled for 3 p.m. at Balboa Bay Club Racquet Club, also in Division IV. The Lightning also won the coin flip after their 14-4 win over Santiago of Corona.
