State Sen. Tom Harman toured a Costa Mesa manufacturing company Monday and listened to suggestions from employees and executives on how to improve California’s business climate.

Harman’s stop at Cla-Val Pressure Management Solutions in Costa Mesa was part of a tour of various businesses in his district the senator is taking to get their feedback on legislation and other issues affecting the business community.

“Keeping companies like Cla-Val here in California is very important to me,” Harman said in a news release. “Cla-Val is a major manufacturer in my district that is producing jobs and making major contributions to the economy of both the local community and the state.

The last thing in the world we want to do is create a business environment that will make companies like Cla-Val consider moving to another state.”

Harman said keeping the state an attractive place for businesses like Cla-Val to operate depends on keeping business taxes low. The senator reiterated his commitment to supporting pro-business legislation during the tour.

Cla-Val moved to Costa Mesa in 1954 and has more than 400 employees worldwide. The 20-acre Costa Mesa facility serves as the company’s global headquarters, featuring two in-house foundries as well as a 4-acre manufacturing operation.
