UC Irvine sophomore outfielder Dillon Bell, who went nine for 18 in four games, three victories, last week, has been named Big West Conference Player of the Week in baseball.

Bell drove in five runs to help UCI to a 3-1 record last week. Tuesday, the sophomore was two for four and drove in the game-winning run at UC Riverside.

In the series opener Friday against Pacific, Bell’s two-run double capped a four-run first inning for the Anteaters to highlight a two-for-five, two-RBI performance.

Saturday, he had a personal-high four hits as he singled and drove in a run in the team’s four-run seventh and singled and scored in the five-run ninth to help the Anteaters erase what was once an 8-0 deficit in a 10-9 UCI loss in 10 innings.

Sunday, Bell recorded his 35th hit in 33 games played with a single.

This is the first honor for Bell, who tops the team with a .372 average and is hitting .419 in Big West games through Sunday.
