Jr. All-American Football signs are Saturday

Huntington Beach Jr. All-American Football and Cheer will hold registration Saturday for its 2008 fall season from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Huntington Beach High.

Registration will be taken in Room D-1 at the school.

Online registration also is available. A $25 discount per player or cheerleader will be credited through Saturday.

Pop Warner Football sign ups are Sunday

Huntington Beach Pop Warner Football will hold final registration for players and cheerleaders for its 2008 fall season from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Edison High.

League divisions are as follows (age as of July 31, 2008): Cub (flag football), ages 5-6; Jr. Mighty Mite (ages 7-8); Mighty Mite (ages 8-9); Jr. Pee Wee (ages 8-11); Pee Wee (ages 9-12); Jr. Midget (ages 10-13); Midget (ages 11-15).

All players and cheerleaders, with the exception of those in the Cub Division, must carry a minimum 2.0 GPA in order to participate in the league.

H.B. Warriors football sign-ups are Monday

The Huntington Beach Warriors, a seventh- and eight-grade age-group club tackle football team, will hold registration Monday for interested players.

The session begins at 7 p.m. at Brethren Christian High located at 21142 Strathmoor Lane (former site of Gisler Middle School).

Club water polo season now underway

The Huntington Beach Water Polo Club’s summer session is underway and runs through June 20.

The session, which began May 6, is still open to interested players.

Summer hoops camp starts in June

Stars Summer Hoops Camp, open to boys and girls grades third through eighth, will stage two sessions in June and one in July.

The first session runs June 16-19, the second session is June 23-26 and the third session is July 7-10. All three will be held at the Huntington Beach High gym.

The cost per each camper per session is $125. Camp instruction includes learning individual offensive and defensive basketball skills through proper mechanics, technique, footwork, conditioning and body balance. Team concepts, sportsmanship and competitive greatness also will be covered.

The camp is under the direction of Huntington Beach High girls’ basketball coach Russell McClurg.

All campers are asked to bring their own ball daily, and each will receive a free T-shirt and camp report card.

Edison summer football camp begins in June

Edison High head football coach Dave White will hold a youth summer football camp for players grades third through eighth June 23-27 at the school’s varsity practice field.

Campers will be taught technique and skills for all offensive and defensive positions utilizing individual and group instruction by the Edison coaching staff. No physical contact or conditioning will take place at the camp. Edison’s offensive and defensive schemes will be introduced during this camp.

Camp times are as follows:

Grades 6-8: 10 a.m.-noon

Grades 3-5: 1-3 p.m.

The cost is $100 per participant and includes a T-shirt. All participants are asked to bring athletic shorts, socks, cleats and bottled water.
