Pending review by Caltrans and the Planning Commission, the design will go to City Council for approval.

Artists invited to open studios on first Fridays

The commission reached consensus to support an open-studio event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the first Friday of every month, beginning in October.

Local artists would be encouraged to open their studios to the public.

Exhibit date approved

The commission approved dates for its upcoming Juried Fine Art Exhibit, but has not yet selected an adjudicator.

  Artists selected for ‘homeless’ meters

The commission supported the selection of four artists — Bob Bonn, Robbie Reddy, Collen Corbet and Marcel Mead — to design distinctive parking meters, the proceeds from which would help fund homeless programs in the city.

Deadline extended for postcard competition

The commission extended the deadline to receive entries for its 2008 Music in the Park postcard competition until June 6.

The next meeting will be June 9.
