Grad plan starts soon

Local schools are gearing up for graduation exercises.

The following is a list of graduation activities at Laguna Beach High School and Thurston Middle School.

Graduation tickets will be available May 27 to 30 for pickup in the high school activities office.

Each senior must sign for his or her packet of nine tickets.

Candle Rose practice will be at 3 p.m. May 29 in the Artists’ Theatre.

The Laguna Beach High School honors convocation will be at 7 p.m. June 4 at the Artists’ Theatre. Caps and gowns are required for students.

The high school prom will be from 8 p.m. to midnight June 7 at the Irvine Hilton.

Candle Rose practice will be at 3 p.m. June 12 in the Artists’ Theatre.

The Candle Rose ceremony will begin at 6:15 p.m. June 13 at the Artists’ Theatre. Students will say goodbye by performing something meaningful at the free event.

Baccalaureate will be from 4 to 5 p.m. June 15 at The Little Church by the Sea, 468 Legion St. Reception to follow.

The Senior Pool Party will be from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. June 16 at the high school pool, with food and music. Students must complete the check-out process by noon to participate.

Seniors will travel to Knott’s Berry Farm from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 17. Check-in will be at 9 a.m. on Short Street.

A mandatory graduation rehearsal will be the morning of June 19; meet at 9 a.m. on the high school football bleachers to take the bus to the Festival of Arts. No return transportation is provided.

The graduation ceremony will be at 8 p.m. June 19 at the Irvine Bowl; guests must be seated by 7:30 p.m. Seniors will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the high school football bleachers for Grad Nite check-in, lei distribution and bus transportation to the Festival; all students will be required to take the bus. Grad Nite buses will depart directly after graduation.

Thurston Middle School will hold its eighth-grade graduation ceremony on campus from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. June 19.
