Man held without bail after hitting cars, DUI arrest

Nicholas Virgil Bowden, 29, of Laguna Beach was arrested at 8:47 p.m. Saturday on suspicion of DUI and being under the influence of drugs, Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Jason Kravetz said.

Bowden had allegedly hit three parked cars in the 300 block of Flora Avenue. When police arrived, he was sitting on the curb, Kravetz said.

Bowden, a handyman, was taken to South Coast Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries before being booked. He was on parole from a prior offense and is being held without bail in Orange County jail, according to jail records.

‘Gunplay’ draws police to arrest woman at resort

A Tustin woman was arrested on a warrant after police were called to the Montage Resort & Spa to investigate a report that people were on the beach with a gun at 9:40 p.m. May 7, Sgt. Jason Kravetz said.

Daniele Marie Chappell, 19, was taken into custody, but none of the other people, a woman and two men, were detained because the gun turned out to be a legal pellet gun.

Man held on drug, counterfeit money charge

Sol Langlois Risley, 31, of Laguna Beach, was arrested at 5:04 p.m. Sunday after police found an allegedly counterfeit $50 in his possession, Kravetz said. He and Bethany Ann Lackey, 33, of Aliso Viejo, were each held on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs after police were called about an attempted burglary of a side bag on a motorcycle parked in the 300 block of Thalia Street. The motorcyclist told police he had confronted the suspects and a fight ensued, and Risley and Lackey fled, Kravetz said. In addition, police allege the counterfeit money was found inside Risley’s vehicle.
