The Laguna Beach High boys’ volleyball team will play Dos Pueblos in a quarterfinal of the CIF Southern Section Division II playoffs at 7 p.m. today at Dugger Gym.

The Breakers previously dominated visiting Crescenta Valley 25-9, 25-14, 25-21 (May 9) and host Beckman, 25-22, 25-21, 25-16 (Tuesday).

Crescenta was the No. 3 representative from the Pacific League and Beckman No. 2 from the Pacific Coast League.

Dos Pueblos, which finished second in the Channel League, defeated Adolfo Camarillo, the Pacific View League champion Tuesday.

Laguna Beach Coach Lance Stewart said the Breakers have the ability to beat Dos Pueblos, but will need to demonstrate more control over the ball than in Tuesday’s match.

“We need to serve consistent and tough and we need to control the first ball better than they do,” he said. “If we can do this we will win.”

If Laguna wins the match tonight, the Breakers will advance to the semifinals on Wednesday, playing against the winner of the Valencia-at-Claremont match. Valencia is the top seed of CIF Division II.

The championship match is scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m. at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
