Teens, parents can attend seminar on safety

Newport Beach police and Newport-Mesa school district officials are inviting parents and their kids to attend the “Keep Your Teen Safe” seminar at Corona del Mar High School Tuesday.

Law enforcement experts in teen drinking, substance abuse and teen suicide will educate parents on how to talk to their kids and what signs to look for in their children. Officers will also give parents and kids helpful tips for surfing the Internet. Experts will be waiting at information booths to answer parents’ questions.

Guests will hear testimonials from parents whose lives have been touched by the dangers of teen alcohol and substance abuse.

Tuesday’s information seminar will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Corona del Mar High School gymnasium. The event is free and no reservations are required.
