Angels 12, Yankees 11: The Yankees had some new pitchers take the mound on April 26, as Nathan Sutherland and William Leiby pitched the first two innings. Kris Cardenas, Mickey Beliakoff, Alex Herrera and Connor Howard pitched the final innings. The Yankees’ bats, meanwhile, were busy throughout the game.

Herrera’s first-inning single and Jake Martin’s first-inning double were followed by Beliakoff’s big second-inning hit, Noah Ostunio’s fifth-inning line drive single to center, Daniel Morales’ fifth-inning double, and Trevor Cohen’s fifth-inning single. Defensively, Cohen made a nice play at second base throwing out the runner at home, Leiby and Michael Huff worked together to get another runner out at home, and Beliakoff caught a tough infield pop fly, all in the first inning. In the fifth inning, Martin made a nice catch in right field.

Diamondbacks 2, Yankees 1: The Yankees’ Jake Martin hitting his first home run of the season in the loss. Alexis Herrera and Daniel Morales pitched superbly throughout the extra-inning game. Connor Howard was an outstanding catcher for eight innings. Trevor Cohen’s infield pop-fly catch and Michael Huff’s great catch in left field assisted the pitchers in holding the Diamondbacks to just one run through seven innings.

A run scored by the Diamondbacks in the bottom of the eighth ended the game.
