Garage sale to help send teen to D.C. leadership program

A local teen will be having a garage sale Saturday to raise funds required to attend a summer school for future leaders.

Huntington Beach High School sophomore Rachelle Clark, 16, has been selected to attend the 2008 session of the Junior Statesman Summer School at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. from June 16 to July 6. She is about $500 shy of the necessary $3,995.

Students participating in the session take college-level courses in American government and speech.

The garage sale will be from 8 a.m. to noon at 1002 Florida St., Huntington Beach, off Beach Boulevard. Anyone wishing to make an individual sponsorship can visit jsa.kintera.org/rachelleclark.
