Pure Light plans spiritual tea party

Pure Light, 821 Laguna Canyon Road, will hold a Girls’ Night Out Spiritual Tea Party from 5 to 9 tonight.

The party is hosted by clairvoyant and healer Diana Spears and Pure Light founder Judy Kelly.

Spears will hold a tea leaf reading, and a palm reader and two massage therapists will also be on hand.

Jewel Zolman will instruct about the reading promptly at 5 p.m. The group will also discuss the meditative benefits of candles, and harpist Juliy Roy will perform.

The cost is $75, and includes a 15-minute reading, 15-minute seated massage, music, candlemaking and refreshments.

Art Spa previews upcoming classes

EmBODYment Art Spa, 1400 S. Coast Hwy., will host a preview of its upcoming creative expression classes from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

The spa’s newest team member, Lisa Harrington of the Smashing Pumpkins, will make a special appearance and performance. She will be teaching keyboard and voice at the spa.

The event will also feature singer Victoria Hazlett and sculptor Jessica deStefano, in addition to artist Polina Hryn, who owns the company.

Sorrento Grille preps for anniversary

Culinary entrepreneur David Wilhelm will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Sorrento Grille, 370 Glenneyre St., with a benefit reception for SchoolPower from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

A $35 minimum donation will include cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Patrons will park at the school district parking lot on Park Avenue and receive transportation to the event.

In addition, a portion of every check at the restaurant in June will go toward SchoolPower.

Saloon to hold summer event

The Saloon in Peppertree Lane, 446 S. Coast Hwy., will hold an anniversary and Welcome Summer party from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Admission is a $20 minimum donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Laguna Beach, and includes one beverage ticket, an opportunity drawing ticket and food.

Prizes for the drawing will be given out throughout the night.

Benefit concert a fundraiser for Coombs

A benefit concert is planned to help raise funds for medical expenses for Sawdust artist Jimmer Coombs who was injured in an accident recently.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. June 9 at the Renaissance Cafe in Dana Point.

Tickets are $20 at the door. Live entertainment will be provided by Poul Pederson, Bobby Hawkins, Jimmy Perez, Nick Hernandoz, Morgan Burrell, Carolyn Miller and others.

Popular author to read at Woman’s Club

Elizabeth George, author of the Thomas Lynley mystery series, will read and sign at a free event at the Woman’s Club of Laguna Beach, 286 St. Ann’s Drive, at 2 p.m. Sunday.

A former Orange County resident, George has released a new novel, “Careless in Red.”

Wednesday night jazz series returns June 11

Laguna Beach Live! will open the Wednesday jazz series in the rose garden of the Hotel Laguna, 425 S. Coast Hwy., with Luther Hughes and the Cannonball/ Coltrane Project from 6 to 8 p.m. June 11.

Hughes, the former bassist to the late Gene Harris, recreates the music of Cannonball Adderly and John Coltrane.

Doors open at 5:15 p.m.; there is a $10 cover charge, and cocktails, wines and small plates will be available for purchase.
