Summer football camps debut in June

Local youth and high school-aged players will have the opportunity to develop their game during upcoming summer football camps staged under the direction of head football coach Jonathan Todd and his staff at Laguna Beach High.

All camps will be at Guyer Field on the Laguna Beach High campus.

Youth Football Skills Camps are two no-contact camps designed to teach players blocking and tackling forms as well as offensive, defensive and special teams position skills. Each day’s camp will culminate with no-contact flag football scrimmages.

Campers are asked to bring athletic shorts, mouth guard and cleats in addition to snacks and sufficient water each day. Each camper will receive a Laguna Beach football T-shirt.

The five-day camp is open to youth who will enter grades third through eighth in the fall, and the cost is $210 per camper. This camp will run June 25 to 27 from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

A three-day “mini camp” that will follow July 14 to 16 is open from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Youngsters grades three through eight are welcome, and the cost for this camp is $128 per player.

In addition to the youth camps, a high school summer football camp also is being offered beginning June 23. The camp includes weight training, speed and agility training and individual position and team training. All passing league games also are included.

Players will receive a sport pack of shorts and a T-shirt.

The cost is $341 per player, and the camp is open to incoming frosh/soph and varsity players.

The high school camp will run through Aug. 8 but no instruction will take place July 3 and 4 due to the Fourth of July.
