YOUTH SCENE: Several locals to qualify for SCMAF meet

Several youth athletes from the city of Laguna Beach Community Service Department track and field program will compete Sunday at the Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation Championships at Warren High in Downey.

Laguna athletes who qualified for the Southern California finals include:

?Greer Jacobs, girls’ Division 1998 800-meter run (city record holder in the event).

?Marlee Grosher, girls’ Division 1996 800-meter run (city record holder in the event).

?Natasha Strickland, girls’ Division 1994/93 1,600-meter run (city record holder in the event).

?Christianne Kinder, girls’ Division 1994/93 high jump (city record holder in the event).

?Sydney Davison, girls’ Division 2001 long jump.

?Alexandra McKeown, girls’ Division 2000 50-meter dash and 100-meter dash.

?Chloe Levine, girls’ Division 2000 long jump.

?Kristin Landsiedel, girls’ Division 1998 long jump.

?Brighid Burns, girls’ Division 1997 softball throw.

?Marissa Merchant , girls’ Division 1994/93 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash.

?Lauren Thunen, girls’ Division 1998 long jump and 400-meter run (city record holder in 400).

?Thomas Johnson, boys’ Division 1995 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash.

?Christian Herry, boys’ Division 2001 200-meter dash.

?Scotty Plowden, boys’ Division 2001 softball throw.

?Lou Corbiere, boy’s Division 1995 high jump.

The Laguna Beach competitors qualified for Sunday’s Southern California Championships by either winning or placing among the top four in their respective events at the Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation Orange County Championships held May 4 at Laguna Hills High.
