WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — UC Irvine moved up five spots Thursday and is in 22nd place after two rounds on the Kampen Course at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.

The Anteaters shot a nine-over total of 297 Thursday, 23 shots better than their opening round Wednesday. UCI has a 36-hole score of 617 in the 30-team field.

Clemson is first at 589, UCLA is second at 590 and USC is third at 591. The top 15 teams following Friday’s third round will advance to the finals Saturday.

Anteater junior Tim Cha shot a 74 Thursday and is in 44th place at seven-over 151 after two rounds.

Junior Sean Shahi, with a 75, is 85th at 155 while sophomore John Chin had UCI’s best round Thursday with a 73 and is in 96th place at 156.

Senior Kenny Kim shot a 78 in the second round and is 114th at 158 while freshman Max Greil, with a 75, is 130th at 160.

Florida’s Billy Horschel shot a five-under 67 and is the individual leader at five-under 139. Clemson’s Kyle Stanley is one shot behind while Washington’s Nick Taylor, who fired a 66 Thursday, is third at 141.

UCI is paired with Wake Forest and Virginia today, going off the first tee beginning at 9:47 a.m. (PDT).
