UCI’s Erazo, Nagata earn All-Academic recognition

UC Irvine senior men’s swimmer Eddie Erazo and senior women’s swimmer Chelsea Nagata were each voted to the ESPN the Magazine District VIII All-Academic team.

Erazo won first-team honors while Nagata was selected to the second team.

Erazo was an All-American after finishing eighth in the 200-yard butterfly at the 2008 NCAA Championships. He was the 2008 UCI Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year and is a four-time UCI scholar-athlete. He holds three UCI school records and is a member of two UCI record holding relay teams.

Erazo is an 11-time Big West Champion and was All-Big West in 15 events during his career. He won a silver medal in the 200 fly at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

He finished sixth in the 200 fly at the 2006 U.S. National Championships.

Nagata is a two-time All-American in the 100 fly and qualified for the NCAA Championships all four years at UCI. She is a two-time UCI Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a four-time UCI Scholar-Athlete.

Nagata was named Big West Female Swimmer of the Year in 2006. She holds three individual UCI records and is a member of all five UCI record holding relay teams. Nagata is an 11-time Big West Champion and was All-Big West in 14 events during her UCI career.
