THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW…A TIME WARP PARTY

The Rocky Horror Picture Show - A Time Warp Party, will be held at The Balboa Pavilion in Newport Beach on Friday, June 13 from 7PM to 11PM, just a block from the legendary Balboa Theater where this outrageous 1975 cult film played as an evergreen until the Theater’s closing in 1992.

Saturday midnight screenings of the film performed by Midnight Insanity at Balboa Theater have since become the thing of local legend - and of a yearning nostalgia for an era when such films shocked as much as they entertained. Funds raised by this Rocky Horror themed party will support the re-opening of the Balboa Theater as a multi-use performing arts and film center.

On the appropriate evening of Friday the 13th (June), the Balboa Pavilion’s grand ballroom will be transformed into an exotic replication of the show’s set with a live auction and dancing entertainment. Midnight Insanity, the original cast from the 1988 performances at the Balboa Theater, will be special guests in full character performing skits, teaching the Time Warp dance, interacting with guests, and taking photos. Time Warp cocktails, a cinema-style cuisine and outrageous Rocky paraphernalia are all part of the act.

Since 1928, the Balboa Theater has been a treasured historic landmark, one that served countless visitors until closing its doors in 1992. Now, the Balboa Performing Arts Theater Foundation is conducting a capital campaign to renovate this legendary icon and transform it into a 320-seat multi-use venue for the presentation of music, dance, theater, and film and performing arts education programs. The Foundation is charged with facility design, raising construction funds, and eventually managing the Theater’s daily operations.
