Students put together blankets for other children

Students at Corona del Mar High School are hoping to make those in need a little more comfortable this week.

A small group of students has spent many lunch breaks this year working to create fleece blankets to give to children in need. The students earned five to 10 community service hours through the project and made about 40 blankets.

A representative from Serving People In Need, based in Costa Mesa, will pick up the blankets Wednesday and will work to distribute them.

About 15 students worked to cut the blankets into particular designs for babies and young children.

“The blankets are beautiful,” said Tera Ochoa, a career specialist for Coastline ROP who worked with the program. “Comforting to the kids here knowing they are helping another child.”
