Residents to review Costa Mesa budget
Residents will have two last chances to discuss Costa Mesa’s budget for the upcoming year with city staff and the City Council before the council votes on it June 17. There will be a council study session to discuss the budget 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, where staff and council members will be present, and a community budget workshop 6 p.m. June 12, without the council.
Both meetings will take place in City Hall Conference Room 1A.
The city doesn’t expect to have to make any big changes to the proposed budget because City Council members and staffers discussed their questions and concerns with the budget drafters throughout the past few months, said City Manager Allan Roeder.
“In years of balanced budget, very few people show up because they’re happy with how the budget is done,” Roeder said. “Generally what happens is discussion of priorities like capital projects such as skateboard parks.”
The roughly 300-page document can be found on the Internet at www.ci.costa-mesa.ca.us or in paper form at City Hall and Mesa Verde and Donald Dungan branch libraries.
