Marilyn Eleanor Herbert Hausman

Marilyn Hausman of Newport Beach, California, passed away on June 6,

2008. A native Californian, Marilyn was born in Los Angeles on October

26, 1935 to Gavin and Josephine Herbert. Her father, a pharmacist, was the

founder of Allergan Pharmaceuticals. Marilyn graduated from University

High School where she was active in Th e Continental Girls Club. In

1957 she married Richard Paul Hausman. Her greatest joy came from her

children; Richard (Rick) Paul Hausman, Jr. (Melinda); Teresa (Teri) Struck

(Steven); Mary Jo Hausman Fisher; John Gavin Hausman (Dana) and her

grandchildren; Nicole, Brittany and Mackenzie Hausman; Richard (Trey) and

Jenna Dewey; Ashley and Kaitlan Fisher and Lauren Hausman.

All through her life, Marilyn was an avid decorator and enjoyed a love for

roses and her gardens. Marilyn was an accomplished photographer and

yachtswoman. Marilyn devoted her life to a multitude of philanthropic

endeavors. She was one of the founders of the Orange County Chapter of the

National Multiple Sclerosis Society and was an active member of Th e Angels

of the Arts, Balboa Bay Club, Th e Pacifi c Club, Newport Harbor Yacht Club

and the Newport Chapter of the National Charity League.

Marilyn leaves behind her beloved mother, Josephine Herbert Troy Gleis, her

husband of 50 years, Richard, her four children and eight grandchildren. She

is also survived by her brother, Gavin Herbert (Ninetta) and her sister-in-law,

Sally Tyne (Patrick) as well as loving nieces, nephews and their children. She

was preceded in death by her father, Gavin Herbert.
