Eagles, Mustangs earn all-league recognition

Estancia High senior setter Barry Fryslie and senior middle blocker Scott Essen as well as Costa Mesa junior outside hitter Jeff Dye made first-team All-Orange Coast League in boys’ volleyball.

Fryslie finished with 177 assists, 63 digs, 45 kills, 24 blocks and 11 service aces, helping the Eagles to a 6-19 record, 2-7 in league, good enough for third place.

Essen had 62 kills, 45 1/2 blocks and 21 digs.

Dye posted a .227 hitting percentage and 187 kills to go with 85 digs for the Mustangs (10-20, 1-8).

Players receiving second-team recognition for Costa Mesa were junior libero Andy Feldman (167 digs) and sophomore setter Jose Faboreno (335 assists).

Senior libero Adriel Robles (148 digs) and sophomore outside hitter Kohl Jones (100 digs, 61 kills) represented Estancia on the second team.
