Pirates players honored

Four Orange Coast College baseball players have added postseason honors after leading the Pirates (32-15-1) to the Southern California Super Regionals.

Sophomore outfielder Cory Olson and freshman third baseman Drew Hillman have been named to the Southern California All-American team, while sophomore pitcher Brandon Dixon and freshman catcher Jourdan Watanabe have been named to the All-Southern California team.

Olson, bound for UC Irvine, hit .346 in 48 games. He led the Pirates with 10 home runs and 45 runs batted in and his .592 slugging percentage was also best on the team.

He stole 19 bases in 19 attempts and 23 of his 66 hits were for extra bases.

Hillman hit .350 with three homers and 544 RBIs, while posting a .515 slugging percentage in 39 games.

Dixon went 10-5 with one save and a 3.23 earned-run average this past season. In 111 1/3 innings, he allowed 105 hits, walked 28 and struck out 77.

Watanabe, like his three teammates a first-team All-Orange Empire Conference performer, hit .353 in 44 games with seven homers and 40 RBIs.

He slugged .549 to help OCC finish second in the Orange Empire Conference.
