Police are seeking two men who kicked, punched and beat a Huntington Beach man in an apparent road rage incident that carried from the 405 Freeway into Costa Mesa Wednesday afternoon.

At about 1:45 p.m., a 46-year-old man from Huntington Beach got in a confrontation with two men in a red Chevy Silverado on the 405 Freeway, said Sgt. Bryan Wadkins. The driver of the Silverado followed the man as he got off on Harbor Boulevard and headed south to Date Place, Wadkins said.

Each driver parked off the street and got out to fight, police said. The driver of the Silverado and his passenger proceeded to kick and punch the Huntington Beach man to the ground, hitting him in the head with “some kind of makeshift weapon” made of metal poles and chains, Wadkins said.

The two men in the Silverado, which is registered to an owner in Chino, got back in their truck after the beating and drove away south on Harbor, officials said. One man is described as 6-1, about 190 pounds with an average build, in his late 20s with tattoos on both arms; the other is described as 5-10, 170 pounds with an average build in his 30s, also with tattoos on both arms. Police said the men are wanted for assault with a deadly weapon.

The Huntington Beach man was taken to the hospital, where he received staples in his head and stitches to his arm, Wadkins said.
