Ocean View pitcher, 19-1, named Player of the Year

Ocean View High sophomore pitcher Holli Floetker has been named Player of the Year on the CIF Southern Section’s All-LA84 Division IV softball team.

Floetker compiled a 19-1 record, which included victories in all five playoff games for the Seahawks. She capped that two-week postseason run by throwing the season finale on May 30 against Bishop Amat as Ocean View scored an 8-3 victory to capture the Division IV championship.

Seahawks Coach Randy Cruz was named the division’s Coach of the Year.

Senior Nikole Afusia, who caught Floetker, was named to the 16-member first team.

In Division I, Edison senior catcher/first baseman Rachel Miller was selected to the first team.
