CdM softball tandem gets all-league honors

Corona del Mar High juniors Katrina Gaar and Leslee Kaczmarek were recently named second-team All-Pacific Coast League in voting by league softball coaches.

Gaar, who played catcher and outfield, batted a team-best .412 for the Sea Kings, including team-best totals of 14 runs, 21 hits and five doubles.

Kaczmarek, who played third base before switching to catcher, batted .250, second on the team. She had 12 hits and a pair of doubles and also shined defensively for Coach Laura Mayberry’s club.

It was the second straight year that both Gaar and Kaczmarek earned second-team honors.

Corona del Mar went 4-17, 2-6 in the Pacific Coast League, failing to make the playoffs for the first time in five seasons.
